Angel Island Cross Country Run

July 5th, 2008

What a glorious day!  Great weather for a run with the average run temperature in the low to mid 60s.  We had a great day with quite a few supporters to cheer us on today.  After meeting at church at 6:00am, we checked in at 7:00, picked up a fairy to Angel Island at 7:50, and started our race around 8:30.  The climb was very hard!  It started with many stairs then went to steep narrow switchbacks all the way to the top of the hill.  Total distance was 8k (about 5 miles) however there was 800 feet of climb which feels like a lot more than it sounds like it would be.

Official times:

  • Jacob - 52:27 minutes - 28th out of 102 total - 3rd out of 6 in age group
  • Michael - 52:28 minutes 29th out of 102 total - 4th out of 6 in age group

Congratulations team!  Next time….. we need to do EVEN MORE hill training!  :)

The results are in!

May 16th, 2008

A great time was had by all at this year’s sports awards presentations. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Morrow prepared a delicious meal and set a beautiful table for all of us to enjoy. Of course, the greatest anticipation was in finding out who won the coveted awards for this basketball season. Each basketball player received recognition for the tremendous growth and progress made by the entire team throughout the season. The coaches agreed that this was a team effort and should be a team award. Following are the individual awards presented this year:

Defensive Player of the year: James F

Offensive Player of the year: Jacob G

Most Valuable Player: Alex C

Our most hearty congratulations to these young men for distinguishing themselves among their teammates.
